Sacred Movement is Medicine

I often remind my clients: I’m not a doctor or a therapist. But I have been teaching energy work for more than a decade, and I’ve lived 40 years with a highly sensitive nervous system with intuitive senses. From my own body’s intelligence and years of tracking this sensitivity, let me tell you:

Stillness isn’t always the answer.

While I have been known to meditate for hours on end, most days you’ll find me walking, swaying, listening to the birds, moving through gentle yoga, or even just rolling around on the ground.

For those of us who experience the world with heightened sensitivity, our nervous systems are already taking in and processing so much more than the average person. To sit completely still, in silence, can actually amplify the overwhelm. What looks like “calm” from the outside can, on the inside, feel like the body is buzzing.

Gentle movement, swaying with the breath, walking slowly, or flowing through simple postures can give the nervous system a chance to recalibrate. Rhythm helps us regulate. Breath in motion helps us anchor. And often, movement is what opens the doorway into stillness, internal and external.

So I invite you to meet your body, your mind, and your energy exactly where they are, and offer the medicine that helps move the energy. Sometimes that looks like stillness. And sometimes it looks like gentle movement. Both are valid. Both are sacred.
